A Study on the determination of the instantaneous centre of rotation and the mandibular movement via planer rigid body model

Abstract
|
|
|
It is necessory to determine the I. C. R at the mandibular movent in order to understand the biomechanics of temporomandibular dysfunction.
In this study, the I. C. R was determined by the computer program of planer rigid body Model and the computer graphic opening and closing movements of mandible were obtained according to the determined I. C. R.
The results obtained from this study were as follows.
1. The I. C. R were determined by planer rigid body model and were not positioned within the condyle at the mandibular opening & closing movement.
2. The opening path and the closing path traced by the most sup. point of the condyle showed a slight difference.
3. The movement patterns of the condyle shape were assumpted to the anatomical curvature of the articular eminence.
4. The opening and closing mandibular movements were simulated by the determined I. C. R.
